Watching the Magic Flute at the Vienna State Opera

Recently our students visited the Vienna State Opera to see an iconic piece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Magic Flute Opera. A captivating story of light, darkness and magic, the plot is centered around Tamino, a prince lost in a foreign land, who is being pursued by an enormous monster. He is rescued by three mysterious ladies, who kill the monster and give Tamino a picture of Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night, with whom he falls instantly in love.

Visiting the State Opera is always an exciting endeavour, due to beauty of the building and the consistent quality of the artistic performances. For our students, it was also a chance to practice their German and to recognize the familiar Mozart melodies which they study in the Music History class.

And what is your favourite opera?
