SKIS Returns to Circus Roncalli
Students and teachers from Schloss Krumbach International School visited Circus Roncalli in Vienna, continuing an annual outing that has become part of the school’s cultural calendar. The visit brought the boarding community together for a performance outside the usual setting of lessons and school activities.
Acrobatics, costumes, music, lighting and imaginative staging were central to the experience. Roncalli’s programme does not use live animals, placing the focus on performance and the visual world created around it.
Circus offers a particular combination of physical skill and theatrical expression. Movement, timing, music and design have to work together, allowing the audience to follow a performance even when very little depends on spoken language.
For a boarding community, an outing also provides time together away from academic responsibilities. Students and teachers share an experience that becomes part of the social life of the school, alongside the routines through which they know one another day to day.
The Roncalli visit sits within a varied programme of excursions at SKIS. Concerts, theatre, museums and circus each offer a different experience, giving students opportunities to encounter forms of performance and culture that they may not yet know well.
