Dormitories
Schloss Krumbach International School sets a new benchmark within the category of highest quality and sophisticated boarding education, that prioritizes care for students and their safety and well-being.
Students occupy spacious newly renovated rooms, equipped with all of the necessary amenities, including working spaces, drawers, and en-suite bathrooms. One of our most interesting design solutions is magnetized walls, which make it very easy for students to attach images, photos, and mind maps to them. We always encourage them to personalize their space – it’s wonderful, when each room reflects the character of its residents.
Furthermore, all the rooms are connected to the school’s Wi-Fi and have charging ports for students’ devices. For safety reasons, an IP Phone station is also available in each room so that students can contact the boarding team any time.
As a boarding school, we take our participation in students’ residential journey with utmost responsibility – instilling in the children the habits of cleanliness and hygiene. We check their appearance, we ensure the tidiness of their uniform, and much more. We also show our students how to sort clothes for laundry. In general, the school’s free laundry service operates on a weekly basis – picking up the used clothing, changing linens. In addition, there are ironing services in place for students’ uniforms.
We understand that for many of our students this is the first experience of living independently, away from their families and try to teach them to look after themselves, to perform some basic daily tasks. This is a great preparation for their future life in college.
Day of a Student
A typical week day of a boarding student at our school is structured the following way:
The day begins with a mandatory morning sports session, focused on stretching and wake-up routine. The purpose behind it is to prepare students for the day ahead and nurture life-long habits of a healthy lifestyle.
Following sports, students enjoy a nutritious breakfast in the castle's dining hall. The school emphasizes a healthy diet, offering six meals a day crafted according to best nutritionist science practices. All the meals are prepared by the school’s kitchen team at the school premises.
Academic instruction commences with morning classes covering a range of subjects. The school offers a bilingual curriculum in English and German for Grades 7-9, transitioning to English-only instruction in Grades 10-12, with options for additional language studies.
A brief mid-morning snack break allows students to recharge with fruits or smoothies, maintaining energy levels for continued learning.
The late morning session continues with academic classes, fostering intellectual development and critical thinking skills. Small class sizes, averaging 5 to 7 students and capped at 16, ensure personalized attention and an engaging learning environment.
Students gather for a balanced lunch. The menu is designed to support healthy growth and cognitive function. We do not offer a buffet but rather a carefully crafted meal plan, always featuring soups, protein and salads. After lunch, students either have free time or perform student leadership activities.
Afternoon classes resume, offering a blend of core subjects and elective courses. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) in the upper grades
Another short snack break provides students with homemade pastry, sustaining focus and energy for the remaining activities.
The final academic session of the day includes specialized subjects and project-based learning, encouraging creativity and practical application of knowledge.
Students engage in supervised homework sessions or participate in extracurricular activities such as sports, arts, music, and various clubs, fostering holistic development. Homework is an important part of our learning process, and we believe in students taking time for consistent and focused study sessions.
Evening meals offer a variety of healthy options, allowing students to unwind and share experiences from their day in a communal atmosphere.
Post-dinner, students have additional time for homework or to engage in extracurricular pursuits, supported by faculty and staff. Homework is followed by an evening walk down the castle hill.
A light evening snack is available, providing a comforting end to the day's activities.
Students return to their dormitories and ought to stay there for the night. Girls and boys are not allowed in each others’ boarding premises.
Lights out as students retire for the night, ensuring they receive adequate rest to meet the demands of their dynamic schedules.
One day consists of 7 lessons and additionally 2 hours of sport distributed over the Day. In the best interest of the students and academic necessity, the School administration may introduce changes in a typical school day routine.
As you can see, our students lead a very fulfilling boarding life which fosters academic excellence and diverse interests, in sciences, fine arts, humanities, and music.
Step by step, through hard work and with love – that’s how we nurture our students to grow into the best versions of themselves. And they do have a great time along the way!

Evening Walk
After studying hard, a breath of fresh air is essential. Our daily evening walk gives students the chance to stretch, talk, laugh, and breathe — all under the caring guidance of their boarding mentors. These short walks boost mood, encourage healthy sleep, and remind students that learning and well-being always go hand in hand at Schloss Krumbach.
Fancy Dinners
Fancy Dinners
What is the Fancy Dinner tradition, and why does it matter so much for our school? The Fancy Dinner tradition, started last year, is a fully student-run and implemented incentive: on weekend evenings, students clean the restaurant area, take out the fancy historical dishes, set up the table, help the kitchen cook, and invite the adults. This is then followed by a lovely evening reception with flowing conversations, fancy suits and dresses, and dancing waltz and quadrille. The Fancy Dinner tradition embodies the spirit of our school, the one of collective responsibility, drive for knowledge, and appreciation for each other.
Meals at SKIS
Eating healthy is living healthy. At SKIS, we provide an exceptionally well-balanced approach to nutrition, helping students build lifelong healthy eating habits. Students receive six meals a day, all freshly prepared in our own school kitchen. Every meal is served in our dining hall on a full-board basis, offering nutritious, varied options that support growing bodies, focused minds, and a healthy daily routine.
No-Smoking Campus
Schloss Krumbach International School recognizes the dangers created by active and passive smoking. To protect the health of our students and community, the whole campus (school and the grounds) is a no-smoking area whether or not school is in session. Smoking on the territory of the campus is strictly prohibited.
Alternative tobacco products, i.e electronic cigarettes with nicotine, electronic cigarettes without nicotine (also known as vape pen that contain only flavored “vape” and water pipes (also known as ‘hookah pen’), are prohibited from school grounds and will be considered a violation of the ban on smoking and may lead to an expulsion.
