Meals at SKIS
Eating healthy is living healthy. At SKIS, we provide an exceptionally well-balanced approach to nutrition, helping students build lifelong healthy eating habits. Students receive six meals a day, all freshly prepared in our own school kitchen. Every meal is served in our dining hall on a full-board basis, offering nutritious, varied options that support growing bodies, focused minds, and a healthy daily routine.
Where are our meals cooked?
All meals at Schloss Krumbach are prepared onsite in our own kitchen, housed in the spacious, high-quality premises left from the castle’s past days as a luxury hotel. We take full advantage of this setting, with our culinary team crafting fresh, balanced meals each day to fuel our students’ busy schedules. Students gather in the dining hall, where they enjoy meals that are varied, nutritious, and made without any outside catering. This setup keeps meal quality high and builds a strong, shared dining experience for everyone.
When and how do students have their meals?
The daily menu consists of six meals a day and offers a healthy mix of protein, vitamins, seasonal veggies. The meal plan for the day is usually the following: at 7:30 am students have breakfast (hot meal, fresh homemade pastries), at 1 pm there is lunch (soup, hot meal, salad, homemade bread), at 7 pm there is dinner (hot meal, salad).
Between the core meals, there are two snacks – a fruit/vegetable/smoothie snack at 11 a.m and our homemade pastries at 4 p.m. At 9:00 p.m., an hour before bedtime, students have their last snack – yogurt or kefir.
Why do we use a diversifiable meal plan instead of a buffet?
The reason is our commitment to promoting responsible eating behavior amongst our students. Think this way: when faced with a choice, would a student choose a salad as a side or just keep eating noodles week after week? The answer is self-explanatory.
We believe that by providing students with balanced, nutritious yet healthy meals we cultivate lifelong habits of a healthy lifestyle. Just like their parents would do.
Inside our Garden
A hidden castle gem that contributes to the quality of students’ nutrition is our wonderful garden. Taken care by our staff and some of the students, it delivers fruits and vegetables, from pumpkins and tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers, which bring joy to student meals.
