A Biology Lesson at Schönbrunn Zoo

Students from Schloss Krumbach International School recently visited Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, bringing with them research they had prepared about different animal species.

Before the excursion, students worked on individual presentations, researching their chosen animals and preparing illustrations to accompany their findings. During the visit, they had the opportunity to share their knowledge with classmates in a setting where the animals themselves could be observed.

The project brought together several areas of learning. Biology provided the subject matter, while English, German and students’ native languages helped them develop their ability to explain scientific information clearly to others.

At SKIS, we regularly incorporate research, writing and presentations into . Students learn not only to gather information but also to organise it, distinguish important details and communicate their understanding to an audience.

The visit to Schönbrunn Zoo gave students an opportunity to practise these skills while exploring one of Vienna’s best-known scientific and cultural institutions.
