We believe in a balance between intellectual and physical activity and work hard to provide our students with a range of PE options.
First of all, students start their morning with a pre-breakfast stretching routine to set the active mood for the day. This becomes a healthy habit. In warmer times, the stretching is carried out at one of the picturesque balconies of the castle. Secondly, there is at least an hour of physical education every day, oftentimes outdoors. We are very lucky to be surrounded by forests and mountains, which gives us a lot of incredible opportunities for outdoors sports. For example, running and walking trips, bicycle sports, roller skating, skiing and skating in winter.
Physical outdoor activity helps children build strength, focus, self-esteem, and endurance. It also allows them to develop social skills, learning to work together with their friends and peers We also encourage team sports – students play basketball and volleyball, we even have internal competitions.
In general, in terms of sports that we provide as included in tuition, these are: Football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, and much more. Since we are so close to the town of Krumbach, we also arrange for private lessons of golf, archery, and horse riding, for an additional fee.
Indeed, given the pandemic times we live in today, we do have post-Covid therapy in place, to help students recover their lungs with the light breathing and fitness exercises.
We are also a part of the Duke of Edinburgh framework, a UK-designed comprehensive system of activities and sports, founded by Prince Phillip. Through a DofE programme young people have fun, make friends, and build confidence.
Being a part of this programme, they also have an advantage when applying to college.
