Learning to Draw Interior in Perspective

The annual Christmas play is just around the corner, which means it’s time to work on sketches for the set!

The laws of perspective are vital to creating an effective space on stage, so covering this drawing technique has become the topic of yet another art workshop. All the students did a great job, and after drawing all the staircases and balconies, we started to design decorative ornaments. We will choose the best samples to decorate the performance.

The older students used a simple pencil with shading while the younger ones received printouts with the outlined basic lines, but then managed to develop all the details themselves, and then added the final touches with gouache. We used one trick: we figured out how to mix colours to create gray without using black paint. The colour combinations varied: light orange with blue, blue with orange, green with pink… this is our recipe behind creating the real magic!
