Recently Schloss Krumbach International School went on an ice skating trip, visiting one of the most famous rinks – the Rathaus one, right in front of the Austrian parliament.
An embedded cultural experience, this trip exposed our international students to the specificities of Austrian tradition of Christmas markets and a cultural love for ice skating as an entertainment venue accessible for everyone. It was also a rather beautiful sight to behold – the twinkling lights, the sounds of carols in the background, and our students cutting the ice with a graceful ease.
In general, ice skating is not only a thrilling recreational sport but also a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness, strengthen muscles, and enhance balance and coordination. This is precisely why ice skating trips are a regular winter routine for our students.
Moreover, this trip provided yet another excellent chance for the students to practice their conversational German skills (which wouldn’t be a problem for our students following a bilingual model of education since Grade 7).
Then the visit to the Christmas market added an extra touch of cultural enrichment to the day’s activities. The students immersed themselves in the vibrant atmosphere, explore traditional crafts, and savor delicious treats (we looove Käsekrainer!)
What a wonderful seasonal experience we had!
