Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE)
Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) is the examination board of the University of Cambridge that develops and awards the Cambridge Pathway qualifications, from Primary and Lower Secondary through IGCSE to International AS and A Level. It now presents itself simply as Cambridge International Education; CAIE remains the abbreviation most parents and schools still search for.

Why the name keeps changing
Parents meet this organisation under at least three names. It was Cambridge International Examinations, then Cambridge Assessment International Education, and it now brands itself Cambridge International Education. The qualifications did not change with the names, and a certificate issued under any of them is the same qualification — which matters when an older sibling’s certificate and a younger child’s syllabus carry different wordings. For searching, CAIE and CIE still find the right place.
What school approval actually means
A school cannot simply teach the Cambridge syllabus and enter students for the exams. It has to be approved as a Cambridge International School, which covers teaching staff, facilities, exam security and administration, and that approval is what allows candidates to be registered at all. For a parent this is the single most checkable claim a school makes: approval status is verifiable, and the wording a school is entitled to use is specific. Ask which qualifications the approval covers — IGCSE and A Level are separate — and from which year it has been held. See our accreditations and programme.
At Schloss Krumbach
Schloss Krumbach International School holds approval as an accredited Cambridge International Education School offering IGCSE and Advanced Level (A-Level Diploma), and separately as an accredited IB World School. Both sit behind the same academic programme: IGCSE in the upper Middle School years, then a choice in Grade 10 between Cambridge A Levels and the IB Diploma for Grades 11–12. The campus is maintained in continued cooperation with Cambridge International, the IB and the Austrian Ministry of Education.
Frequently asked questions
